The 12 IKC Technical Programme will be held at Yellowknife’s two main hotels: the Explorer and the Chateau Nova Hotel which are located adjacent to each other. Conveniently, all rooms in both of the conference venues are available to 12 IKC delegates at preferred rates (see details below).

Alternative accommodation at 12 IKC preferred room rates is also available at the Nova Inn. Most of the 12 IKC hotels offer free airport shuttle service to and from Yellowknife Airport (YZF). Taxis are also available.

Be sure to book your accommodation as early as possible because summer is Yellowknife’s high season and accommodation is limited (see reasonable cancellation policies below). For your convenience, booking of hotel rooms at 12 IKC preferred rates is open – see “How to Book” at the end of each Hotel Description below. Booking cut off at 12 IKC preferred rates is between May-June 2024 (depending on the hotel and subject to availability). For more information please see below. Please note that all room rates are in Canadian dollars (CAD).

Please note that all hotels will require the credit card details to secure your booking but there will be no charge made at the time of booking.  The card will be pre-authorized on the day of check-in . The pre-authorization will be completed upon check-out. If the guest is a no-show or if they cancel after the cancellation period, one night room and tax will be charged to the card.

Chateau Nova Hotel

The Chateau Nova Hotel is one of the two 12 IKC Technical Programme Venues. All rooms are available to 12 IKC delegates at preferred rates. The hotel is a new, full service, conference hotel with great amenities from the fitness center, steam room and sauna to the Quarry Restaurant and Lounge.

Chateau Nova Hotel is located in the Northeast area of downtown and approximately 5 km (about 6 minutes by car) from the Yellowknife Airport.

The Explorer Hotel

The Explorer Hotel is one of the two 12 IKC Technical Programme Venues. All rooms are available to 12 IKC delegates at preferred rates.

Located on a high outcrop of rock overlooking downtown, the hotel is one of the tallest buildings in Yellowknife. Members of three generations of the Canadian Royal Family— Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Prince Charles (now King Charles III), and the Prince and Princess of Wales (formerly Prince William and Duchess Catherine) — have stayed at the Explorer on their visits to Yellowknife. The Explorer Hotel supports the community of Yellowknife with various initiatives with several nonprofit organizations throughout the Northwest Territory.

The Explorer Hotel in Yellowknife is located approximately 5km (6 minutes by car) from the airport and just right around the corner of downtown (located northeast of Yellowknife downtown).  The Hotel provides a complimentary airport shuttle.

Nova Inn

Nova Inn hotel is a new addition to the Nova Hotels, and with the new ownership, there have been upgrades and changes made over the last year. Twenty five rooms are available to 12 IKC delegates at preferred rates. The non-smoking hotel puts all that Yellowknife has to offer within easy reach, including outdoor activities, scenic trails, and much more. Enjoy free airport shuttle service to and from Yellowknife Airport (YZF) to make travel a breeze. During the warmer months, take advantage of great running trails along Frame Lake or Niven Lake, play golf under the midnight sun, or head to Great Slave Lake for fishing or a sightseeing tour.

Requests to retain rooms beyond 12:00 pm should be directed to the Front Office Manager; a late checkout fee of $30.00 per hour will apply if the guest checks out after 12:00 pm and prior to 3:00 pm. Checking out anytime after 3:00 pm will result in a full night’s charge.

An early departure fee will apply if the guest checks out of the hotel prior to the original date of departure.

Luggage may be held at the Front Desk until the time of departure.

The Nova Inn has a 24-hour Cancellation Policy without penalty. A full-night’s room/tax charge will apply to the credit card on file for cancellation after 3:00 pm on day prior to arrival. This fee will be applied to the credit card on file or directed billed, if applicable.
