12 IKC LEGACY

Videos

The two videos linked here were shot by Alec Hawkes who was a delegate at 12 IKC. Alec is a retired diamond exploration geologist who worked in Southern Africa and North America during his career and no lives in the UK.

This first video called “Gathering in Yellowknife” showcases all the highlights of the Conference.

This second video called “The Diamond Mines of the Canadian Northwest Territories” showcases the Field Trip to Northwest Territories Diamond Mines.

Conference Proceedings Volumes

The 12 IKC Conference Proceedings is a Special Volume of the international journal Mineralogy and Petrology published by Springer.

Editing of the 12 IKC proceedings, to be published in Mineralogy and Petrology, is in the final phase now. We expect to end up with about 48 research papers or a total of about 900 pages. Currently, 17 articles are already available on-line (see https://link.springer.com/journal/710/articles) and we expect to have all articles published electronically by July 2025.

To avoid having all articles in a single printed issue, we will have to go the route of separating the proceedings into two issues (September and December) of volume 119 of Mineralogy and Petrology. As the December 2025 issue will only be printed in early 2026, this will delay shipping of the printed volumes to all conference delegates. But we believe that in the end that is the best option.

Journal chief editor Lutz Nasdala (University of Vienna) has been of tremendous help in getting all our manuscripts from submission to production.

The 12 IKC Proceedings Volumes are sponsored by Rio Tinto.

Celebrating the lives and contributions of colleagues, geologists, mineralogists and legends who shaped the diamond industry

An abstract titled “Celebrating the lives and contributions of colleagues, geologists, mineralogists and legends who shaped the diamond industry” by John Bristow et al., is included as part of 12 IKC’s celebration of 50 Years of International Kimberlite Conferences in the online Journal of International Kimberlite Conference Abstracts (JIKCA)

To acknowledge those who have passed away since 11 IKC, a special “Wall of Remembrance” poster was displayed and re-designed as a cover of the printed copies of this abstract available during the conference.
